Ron Yachnin is Principal of Yachnin & Associates, an Ottawa-based management and policy development consulting firm addressing sustainability and organizational citizenship. Ron works with governments, companies, environmental groups, municipalities and other partners to deliver best- and next-practice insights, management and policy approaches for tackling sustainability challenges. His firm is currently focused on issues related to integration and performance management, the economic and business value of sustainability, product stewardship, policy development in support of innovation, municipal sustainability plans, greening of supply chains and engagement programming related to senior executives.
Ron's work has been recognized as innovative; an example of this can be found in his efforts on The sdEffectTM for which his firm was recognized as among finalists for the Globe Foundation's 2007 Awards for Environmental Excellence. His firm's current and recent clients include: The Policy Research Initiative, The World Business Council for Sustainable Development, The EXCEL Partnership, The Conference Board of Canada, The Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, Industry Canada, University of Western Ontario's Richard Ivey School of Business, Bell Canada, and Alcan Inc. Ron has published in a variety of journals and has appeared on television and radio.
Ron has previously been employed by the Conference Board of Canada, Hardy Stevenson and Associates Social Scientists and Environmental Planners, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Resource Systems Management International, and Delcan International. He is also past Director of the Ontario Association for Impact Assessment and an advisory board member of The Carbon Disclosure Project Canada.
Ron's academic background is in the field of Human Geography. He holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University.
